The crack of the bat. The roar of the crowd. The click of the mouse.
Playoffs can be fickle. They rarely match up the two best teams in each league, but rather the team that had the hottest pitching staff in October.
In 2019, baseball fans everywhere were treated to a clash of juggernauts, the best teams in each league meeting up with a trophy on the line. The 2019 Cleveland Spiders rode a deep pitching staff and electric infield to a 109-53 record, cruising through the American League. The Pittsburgh Pirates, with their star-studded lineup and elite collection of arms steamrolled the National League with a 111-51 record.
These titans met on the field, and the dominant Pirates proved their mettle, taking 4 of 5 from the Spiders and claiming their first title. The league has an unstoppable force in western Pennsylvania.
Now for the most difficult part: how can they possibly improve next year?
